COMANY Group Human Rights Policy

For every individual to reach their fullest potential(The COMANY Group Human Rights Policy)

 

Since its establishment, above all things, the COMANY Group has been valuing the spirit of "humanity" to do the right thing as a person, and the spirit of "fraternity" to respect each other and work hard together. We believe that it is what makes us a wonderful society only when we enhance each other in our relationships with others in the first place. In its management credo, the COMANY Group identifies its mission as "to provide opportunities for the material and intellectual growth of all our employees, and through our joint efforts, contribute to the advancement of society and humankind." It is a mission that incorporates the idea of contributing to the well-being of all people associated with us and creating a spiritually affluent world. We are endeavoring to fulfill our responsibility of protecting and advancing respect for human rights, which are indefeasible fundamental rights that belong to every single one of us. For every individual to reach their fullest potential, we are committed to ensuring that all people can fulfil their individual potential in an environment that satisfies their basic needs and is characterized by safety, freedom, and equality, thus enabling us to enhance our value as a group.

 

 

1.Efforts of respecting human rights

The COMANY Group is a signatory to the United Nations (UN) Global Compact and hereby formulates this Human Rights Policy (hereinafter referred to as "this Policy") for promoting respect for the right of individuals to live their lives fully. Not only will we implement the International Bill of Human Rights (the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights) based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, but also other international standards such as the ILO (International Labor Organization), Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and the principles of "Free, prior and informed consent" concerning the rights of indigenous peoples.

 

 

2.Applicable Scope

This Policy applies to all employees of the COMANY Group. We will also seek understanding and support from our business partners and suppliers toward this Policy to work together to respect human rights.

 

 

3.Fulfillment of Responsibility

The COMANY Group will avoid violating human rights in its business activities and will also take appropriate actions to rectify any negative impacts on human rights that do occur in the course of its business activities based on its company credo "Our spirit is the spirit of humanity and fraternity." We will also encourage our business partners and suppliers to take appropriate actions to address any negative impacts on human rights caused by them. In accordance with the COMANY Group Code of Conduct and various laws and regulations, the Group will implement initiatives to protect and advance respect for human rights, with emphasis on the post-retirement re-employment, employment of persons with disabilities, employment of foreigners, empowerment of women.

 

 

4.Compliance with Applicable Laws and Regulations

The COMANY Group will comply with applicable laws and regulations of the countries and regions where its business operates. In the event of inconsistencies between international human rights principles and national laws and regulations, we will seek to uphold international human rights principles.

 

 

5.Human Rights Due Diligence

The COMANY Group will establish a framework for human rights due diligence, to identify the potential negative impacts on human rights by its activities, and seek to minimize such impacts or prevent them from occurring.

 

 

6.Remedy

If it becomes apparent that COMANY Group's activities have clearly caused negative human rights impacts through a third party including business partners and suppliers, the Group will work to remedy and improve the situation through dialogue and appropriate procedures.

 

7.Education

The COMANY Group respects each one's humanity and provides appropriate training to employees to ensure this Policy is incorporated into all business activities and is effectively implemented.

 

 

8.Dialogue and Discussion

In the process of revising and implementing this Policy, the COMANY Group will utilize external human rights expertise and hold dialogue and discussions with stakeholders.

 

 

9.Reporting

The COMANY Group will disclose the progress and results of its initiatives to be taken to protect and advance respect for human rights.
